Substation Gantry Structures
Equipment support and bus-bar gantries for AIS substations.
Substation Gantry Structures — Overview
India Electricals Syndicate fabricates hot-dip galvanized substation structures at Howrah — equipment support frames for CT, PT, CB and lightning arresters, bus-bar gantries, take-off gantries and lighting masts for 33 kV to 400 kV air-insulated substations. These structures set the electrical clearances and carry switchgear and conductor loads for the substation’s life, so dimensional accuracy and galvanizing are inspected to utility standards.
Structures are fabricated from IS:2062 steel to the substation layout and equipment GA, with bolt-hole positions held to the equipment footprint so switchgear mounts without site modification. All members are hot-dip galvanized for the outdoor design life and proof-checked for fit before despatch.
Each structure carries mill certificates, galvanizing records and erection drawings for utility inspection. Send your substation layout and equipment schedule with a quote request and the Howrah engineering desk will return a fabricated structure offer.

Frequently Asked Questions
What substation structures does IES make?+
Equipment support frames (CT/PT/CB/LA), bus-bar gantries, take-off gantries and lighting masts for 33 kV–400 kV AIS substations.
Are bolt holes matched to the equipment?+
Yes — hole positions are held to the equipment footprint so switchgear mounts without site modification.
How are they corrosion protected?+
Hot-dip galvanized for the outdoor design life, with galvanizing records supplied for utility inspection.
Where are they fabricated?+
At India Electricals Syndicate, Howrah, Kolkata — in continuous manufacture since 1972.
What specifiers say about IES substation structures
“IES has been our specified cable tray and earthing vendor across multiple thermal projects. Documentation, MTC, and dispatch discipline have been consistent over years of supply.”
“Hot-dip galvanizing micron consistency and IS 12352 conformance on every batch — that's what we rely on for corrosive coastal sites. Lead times from Howrah are predictable.”
“For solar mounting structures across our 50 MW deployment, IES held the galvanizing spec across 30,000+ pieces. Quality dispute count: zero. That tells the story.”
